Cerro Islá Food Tour
Cerro Islá Food Tour
We'll pick you up at 9 am at your hotel in Bahías de Huatulco, and from there we'll go to Cerro Islá to discover the history and gastronomy of the Mexican state of Oaxaca.
After a 45-minute drive, we'll arrive in Santa María Huatulco, a picturesque village where we'll visit its church. Did you know that this temple houses the remains of the venerated cross of Huatulco? We'll continue our tour of the town by visiting the Municipal Palace, where we'll see its colorful murals.
At the end of the tour of Santa María Huatulco, we'll head to Benito Juárez, a small community located at the foot of Cerro Islá. Upon arrival, we'll snack on some corn tostaditas to fuel up before starting a 3-hour hike through the area's surrounding nature.
We'll begin the route by taking a look at the regional fruit and tropical trees. We'll also visit the farms growing coffee beans and different varieties of cacao. Afterward, we'll make a stop along a trail to have some delicious coffee and local sweet breads.
The route will continue along a path where we'll observe all kinds of regional trees, plants, and fruits like guanabana, yaca, carambola, neem, and rambutan. At the end of the trail, we'll have a nice lunch al fresco. This menu includes roasted tasajo, cecina enchilada, chorizo, roasted nopales, beans and pasta, guacamole, handmade tortillas, and different types of chili sauces, as well as coffee and fruit-flavored waters.
After lunch, we'll return to the trailhead, and from there we'll return to Bahías de Huatulco, where arrival at your hotel is scheduled for 4 pm.
