Pastoruri Glacier Day Trip
Activity Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Jirón 28 de Julio in central Huaraz and head by minibus to Nevado Pastoruri to begin this day trip.
We'll pass the Patococha lagoon and stop to see the hot springs of Pumapampa. Here, we can also find numerous specimens of Puya Raimondi, an endemic plant. Did you know that it's the species with the most inflorescence in the world?
Later, we'll arrive at the Huascarán National Park to begin our 45-minute climb to the Pastoruri Glacier. Located in the south of the Cordillera Blanca, it's almost 2 square kilometres (0.77 square miles) in size and is at an altitude of over 5,000 metres (16,404 ft)—a total titan of ice!
After the hike, you'll have free time to grab lunch and refuel. Then, after 9 hours of hiking, we'll be back at the starting point in Huaraz.
