Kotosh Day Trip
Kotosh Day Trip
At your chosen time, we'll pick you up from your accommodation in Huánuco and head to the archaeological site of Kotosh, just 3 miles (5 kilometres) away.
This site is home to constructions that are over 4,200 years old, making it one of the earliest examples of Andean architecture. The most famous of these is undoubtedly the Temple of the Crossed Hands, a rectangular ceremonial building where high reliefs depicting two crossed hands were discovered. Some theories suggest that the meaning of these hands could be related to Andean cosmovision and the origins of the world...
We'll stroll among the stone and mud constructions in the city of Kotosh while taking in the atmosphere of this sacred place. In addition, we'll visit the Temple of the Crossed Hands and learn about how the Japanese archaeologist Seiichi Izumi discovered it in the 1960s.
Our last stop will be at a magnetic point in the complex, which tends to surprise and amaze all who visit...
After 2 hours spent exploring the ancient ruins of Kotosh, we'll return to Huánuco and drop you off at your hotel.
