Garu and Corona del Inca Excursion
We'll pick you up at 6 am at your accommodation in Huanuco and begin our route to the district of Choras.
After a three-hour drive, we'll start a 2-kilometre walk across the Cóndor Waganan hill until we reach the archaeological complex of Garu, the ancient capital of the Yarowilca Empire. This site is located at an altitude of 3700 metres and occupies an area of nearly 50 acres. It is one of the most important archaeological sites of the Alto Marañón and is made up of a series of flagstone buildings, passageways, stone towers and tombs.
The site is divided into three sections: Huaychao, Gantu and Jucchu or Gayarina. We'll walk along the stone walls and the viewpoints that delimit the different sections while we learn about the history and secrets that this mysterious place holds.
After exploring the archaeological complex, we'll get back on the road and head to Corona del Inca hill, an area of rocky mountains.
To round up the excursion, we'll head back to Huanuco and stop for lunch in a local restaurant. We'll arrive at your accommodation at 5 pm.
