Huamantla Walking Tour
Huamantla Walking Tour
At the appointed time we'll meet at Hotel Las Candelas to start this guided tour of Huamantla, one of the Pueblos Mágicos of Mexico and the first in the state of Tlaxcala. This recognition, meaning 'Magical Towns', is given to some municipalities whose cultural richness is deemed important to preserve.
Our tour of Huamantla will pass through the main points of interest in town. We'll pass by the Convent of San Luis and its parish church, which dates back to colonial times; you'll fall in love with its colorful dome! Next, we'll see Basilica de la Caridad and Casa de la Cultura, which houses eight rooms that are usually occupied with workshops and exhibitions. This cultural center was originally built between the 18th and 19th centuries as a school.
We'll continue walking until we stop in front of the façade of the National Puppet Museum, which displays an extensive collection of puppets from various parts of the world such as India, Indonesia, France and Spain. The core of the exhibition consists of the puppets made by the Rosete Aranda brothers, who formed a successful puppet company in Latin America and Europe.
After an hour and a half, we'll end the tour by returning to the meeting point, where we'll say goodbye.
