Cooking Workshop in Huamantla

We'll meet up at the selected time at the hotel Las Candelas to go to an artisan workshop where muéganos, a traditional Mexican pastry, is made in Huamantla.

These small honey-coated delicacies have their origins in the Arab culture. Like marzipan and nougat, these recipes crossed the Mediterranean to reach Europe and later merged with Spanish cuisine. During the colonization of the Americas, the conquistadors brought them to the Mexican populations.

In this muéganos workshop, in addition to learning the history of this traditional sweet, we'll attend a class in which we'll see first-hand how it's made. Afterwards, you'll put your hands to the dough to cook the little muéganos. In fact, in 2020 the muéganos of Huamantla were declared Cultural and Gastronomic Heritage of the state of Tlaxcala.

As a final touch, we'll sweeten the palate by tasting the muéganos that we cooked during the workshop. Yum!

After an hour and a half, we'll wrap up the activity and say our goodbyes with a delicious taste in our mouths.
