Enjoy spectacular views from Ngong Ping reaching the peak by cable car. Admire Lantau Island's natural scenery and marvel at the majestic Big Buddha on the hilltop.
Description
From the Ngong Ping 360 cable car, you'll have panoramic views over the South China Sea, the Hong Kong international airport, and the contrasting nature of the indigenous forests that have earned Lantau Island the nickname "the lungs of Hong Kong". The 25 minute cable car journey starts from Tung Chung, a historic fishing village that is nowadays home to contemporary high-rises nestled amongst the greenery.
Setting off from Tung Chung, the gondola will take you on a journey through the verdant hilly countryside of Ngong Ping. You'll enjoy 360 degree views over the village, where the Po Lin Monastery is located. This Buddhist complex extends to one of Hong Kong's most beautiful secrets: the Tian Tan Buddha, or Big Buddha. From your cable car cabin, you'll be able to see this immense statue, which at 112 feet (34 m), is among the largest Buddha statues in China.
Throughout your trip, as the rich tradition and nature of the area is revealed to you, you'll discover why Ngong Ping 360 is one of Hong Kong's most popular attractions.
