Snorkelling with Whale Sharks in Holbox
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Calle Palomino and start the day with a breakfast of yoghurt, granola, fruit and freshly baked bread accompanied by coffee or tea. What a great start!
During breakfast, we'll give you a safety briefing and assign your snorkelling equipment. Once we're ready, we'll head to the dock, where we'll board the boat that will take us out into the warm waters of the Mexican Caribbean. During the trip, we'll reveal interesting facts and features of the whale shark. Did you know that it is the largest fish in the world? It can reach up to 12 metres (39 ft) in length!
When we're ready, we'll put on our snorkelling gear and head out to sea in search of different specimens. We'll tell you how hundreds of whale sharks arrive every year to feed on plankton along the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. We'll be able to see them in their natural habitat!
And it's not just whale sharks that you'll see on this swimming experience. You'll have to keep an eye out for hawksbill turtles and devil rays. After swimming close to these majestic fish, we'll set sail back, making a stop at Los Cuevones reef off Cabo Catoche. Here, we'll put our snorkelling gear back on to see more species such as cat sharks, octopus and squid.
Have you worked up an appetite? After the swim, we'll refuel with a delicious fish or mango ceviche in Santa Paula, an ideal place to swim and relax in the sun. You'll love it!
Finally, after between 6 and 7 hours, we'll finish the activity back at the meeting point.
