Vatnajökull Glacier & Blue Ice Cave Hike
At 9 am we'll meet at Glacier Adventure Base Camp, hop in a jeep and head to the Vatnajökull glacier in the Skaftafell National Park.
After a 30 minute drive, we'll come face to face with this icy giant. We'll get kitted out with helmets, harnesses, ice axes and crampons and set off on a hike on Vatnajökull, one of Europe's largest glaciers.
Unless you're already an expert ice-walker, this activity will be full of unique experiences. You'll walk on uneven terrain and see unusual rock formations and the moulins that cause the glacier to be in a constant state of change.
45 to 90 minutes later, depending on our pace, we'll reach the spectacular Blue Ice Cave located under the glacier. Due to the lack of air, it has acquired an intense blue colour that'll make you fall even more in love with this breathtaking part of Iceland.
We'll explore the interior of this blue cave, one of the great natural wonders of Iceland, and unveil its hidden secrets.
It'll then be time to emerge from the cave and return to the meeting point in our jeeps, where we should arrive at around 4 pm.
