Meet us at Hiroshima Station, where we'll embark on a bus journey to kickstart this immersive tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima, where we can dive into the long history of Japan.
From our bus ride, you'll catch sight of a modern reconstruction of Hiroshima Castle, the original of which was tragically destroyed by the atomic bomb on August 6, 1945.
As we discuss the historical significance, we'll arrive at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and pause for a half-hour tour. Here, you'll discover an expansive memorial park featuring exhibitions and structures dedicated to honoring the victims of this tragic chapter in World War II history. Among these landmarks stands the renowned Genbaku Dome.
Next, we'll enjoy a traditional lunch in the area, where you can taste okonomiyaki, a typical Japanese cake, sure to delight.
Following our break, we'll go to Miyajimaguchi Pier and board a ferry bound for Miyajima Island. Shortly after, we'll arrive at this enchanting destination, allowing us to explore notable sites like Itsukushima Shrine, the Great Torii Gate, the Goju-no-to Pagoda, and the Toyokuni Temple.
