Tiburón Island & Seri Community Day Trip
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Hermosillo to begin our day trip. Are you ready to discover the sacred home of the Seri people? Let's go!
After a 2-hour journey, we'll stop at Saguaro Forest, where you'll be amazed by the giant cacti that stand over 65 feet (20 meters) tall. This area, with its deserts and millennial flora, will be the perfect place to start connecting with the natural environment of Sonora.
Next, we'll return to the vehicle and, after a 40-minute drive, reach Punta Chueca, the entrance to Tiburón Island. Did you know that this is the largest island in Mexico and the Gulf of California? From Punta Chueca, we'll board a panga, a typical boat similar to a canoe, that will take us to the island in less than 30 minutes. During the journey, you'll enjoy admiring the crystal-clear waters of the Sea of Cortés.
Once we arrive, the Seri Tribe, an indigenous community also known as the Comcaac Tribe, will greet us with a traditional song. Get ready for a unique experience! On Tiburón Island, we'll explore the swamps, an area of biodiversity home to birds, fish, and plants. You'll also have free time to relax on its calm beaches.
After 3 hours of visiting the island, we'll return to Punta Chueca to set off to Bahía de Kino, where you'll be able to grab a delicious lunch and spend more time on the beach. Time for more exploring!
In the afternoon, we'll visit the Comcaac Museum for 30 minutes. Here, you'll learn more about this indigenous community's fascinating culture, as well as its traditions, history, and crafts. Finally, we'll make our last stop at Bahía de Kino Pier, a perfect spot to marvel at the scenery and take amazing pictures.
We'll then begin our journey back to Hermosillo, where we'll drop you off at your hotel after this 11-hour day trip.
