At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance of the Astoria Capsis Hotel, located in Eleftherias Square. Once we're ready, we'll board a minibus and begin our comprehensive tour of the towns of Crete's center. Are you ready to discover the island's traditions and natural attractions? Let's go!
First, we'll visit the town of Zaros, famous for its springs. Did you know that most of Greece's drinking water comes from this town? We'll walk through the beautiful nature of Zaros while sharing its history, which is closely tied to water sources. You'll also pass by Byzantine monasteries and see Lake Votomos. Get ready to fall in love with its stunning emerald waters!
Our next stop will be in Vatos, a hidden town nestled in the forest in the interior of Crete. While strolling through its streets, you'll discover its traditional customs, such as the agricultural utensils that locals have used for centuries. To complete our visit, we'll see a traditional cauldron where raki is prepared.
Continuing our trip, we'll reach Spili, the perfect place to see the iconic Kefalovriso Fountain, adorned with 25 lion heads with streams of water that flow into a small waterfall. Take a picture! Here, you'll have an hour of free time to grab a bite to eat.
Next stop? The town of Lampini, where we'll explore the Church and Museum of Panagia. Did you know its dome is home to frescos from the 12th and 14th centuries? Impressive! We'll also uncover the secrets of this Greek town, which was once the site of the Episcopate of Lampis. Afterward, you'll have the opportunity to continue exploring the town's enchanting sites, like St. Anthony's Throat, where we'll go on a hike.
After a total of 10 hours, we'll begin our journey back to Heraklion, where we'll conclude our day trip
