At the scheduled time, we'll meet by the Statue of the Unknown Soldier in Eleftherias Square. Once we've all arrived, we'll set off on our food tour of Heraklion and start discovering Crete's culinary scene.
As we walk through Heraklion's historic centre, we'll make a total of 8 stops so we can taste some of the island's traditional products and discover how they're made. We'll discuss what distinguishes Cretan gastronomy from other Mediterranean diets as we stroll through Heraklion's main neighbourhoods.
To begin, we'll sip on a Greek coffee and tell you all about why this drink is so important for the country. We'll also learn how to do some "cup-reading" and reveal the future in the coffee grounds. In addition, we'll try a delicious bougatsa cake from Heraklion.
Our tour will then take us to a local market where we'll nibble on olives, cheese, biscuits and Cretan olive oil. During the tour, we'll talk to bakers, fishmongers, butchers, cheesemongers and other professionals who'll share their vision of Cretan cuisine.
Organic meats, fried snails and Cretan wines will also feature during our gastronomic adventure - what more could you ask for?
After 4 hours of exploring and eating, our food tour of Heraklion will come to an end back at the starting point.
