Free Walking Tour of Helsinki
Description
We'll begin our free tour of Helsinki at the indicated time, next to the statue of Alexander II, located in the central Senate Square. There, we'll admire the Palace of the Council of State, the former home of the Finnish Senate in the early 20th century.
Your free walking tour will continue to the Bank of Finland, before you reach one of Helsinki's most beautiful landmarks: the Uspenski Cathedral. Admire the striking contrasts between this dramatic red-brick Eastern Orthodox Church with the white Lutheran Helsinki Cathedral. It is said to be one of the largest Orthodox churches in Western Europe.
After exploring the iconic religious site, continue your route to Market Square, a hub of activity in the daily lives of the Finnish capital's inhabitants. Learn all about their customs and traditions, as well as Helsinki's history. Then, we'll take a pleasant stroll through Esplanadi Park, known as the “living room of Finland”. This green space is a meeting point for locals and students enjoying the Finnish sunshine during the summer months.
Next, we'll continue exploring Helsinki until we reach the central train station, the main departure point for the city's international trains. Finally, we'll end our 2 hour and 15 minute tour outside the Oodi Library, a true architectural gem and the latest addition to Helsinki's library network.
