Night Swim with Manta Rays
Night Swim with Manta Rays on Big Island Hawaii
Snorkelling is always an incredible experience full of memorable moments, but snorkelling at night makes it even more special! What secrets will you find in the waters around Hawaii Island under the dark night sky?
After meeting at Kealakehe Pkwy at the scheduled time and going through the safety instructions for your night swimming experience, you'll climb aboard a boat and set sail to an area known for being a natural habitat for manta rays.
In just five minutes, you'll have arrived in the spot where these incredible marine creatures live: did you know they can reach up to 23 feet (7 metres) in width? Put on your snorkelling goggles and breathing tube and you'll be ready to get into the sea! You'll head underwater accompanied by your instructor, who will be carrying a light board allowing you to see the manta rays in the dark water. What's more, the light attracts plankton - also known as dinner for the enormous rays!
You'll spend about 30 to 40 minutes swimming with the manta rays, before climbing back aboard the boat and returning to the meeting point, where this two-hour-long activity will then come to an end.
What if we don't see any manta rays?
We're sure you'll be lucky enough to see manta rays! However, the creatures are unpredictable, and depending on sea currents, wind and weather conditions at the time of your tour, the number of manta rays may vary. If you don't see any manta rays at all during your activity, we'll give you the opportunity to re-do the activity on the next scheduled day for free (subject to availability).
