Perfume Pagoda Day Trip
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi. After a two-and-a-half-hour journey, we'll arrive at the Thien Tru pier where our excursion to the Perfume Pagoda will begin.
Here we'll climb aboard a typical Vietnamese boat for a delightful cruise down the River Yen. After an hour's ride, we'll arrive at the foot of Perfume Mountain and get off the boat to begin a 2.5 km ascent to Huong Tich Cave, the cave of the Perfume Pagoda complex.
In the cave, we'll descend more than 100 steps to reach the Perfume Pagoda, the most important religious site in the region. Here we'll visit its interior, plastered with rich Buddhist art, and marvel at the beauty of its natural setting, with stalactites and stalagmites in the form of children, trees, or rice plants, leading the locals to give them names over the years.
At the end of the visit to the Perfume Cave and Pagoda, you can choose to descend the mountain on foot or by cable car. Afterward, we'll go to a nearby restaurant for a traditional Vietnamese dish.
Adequately fueled we'll then head into the Thien Tru Pagoda, built in the 18th century, also called the 'celestial kitchen' due to the Vietnamese legend that says the rocks of the mountains look like a chef working on the stove.
After visiting the temple of Thien Tru, we'll return to the boat to go back along the Yen River to the departure pier. There, we'll take the bus again and return to Hanoi, where we'll drop you off at your hotel 9.5 hours after pickup.
Add the cable car ride
If you choose this option, we´ll follow the same itinerary described in the previous section, but instead of walking up the more than 100 steps, we´ll ascend to the Perfume Pagoda by cable car. In this way, we´ll reach this special place in a short time and without any effort.
Pickup
This tour only includes pickup from hotels in the historic center of Hanoi, and from accommodations located within a 5km radius of the historic center. If you're staying in other areas, you'll have to make your own way to the following meeting point: 47 Hang Bong Street.
