Experience the rich cultural and natural treasures of Tunisia on a captivating 3-day tour that takes you through El Djem, Douz, and Kairouan. From ancient Roman wonders to sweeping sand dunes, serene springs, and vibrant souks, this journey from Hammamet promises diverse sights and experiences.

Description

Day 1: Hammamet - El Djem - Matmata - Douz

We'll start our tour from Hammamet by picking you up at your hotel at the designated time. Our first destination is El Djem, renowned for its Roman amphitheater, often referred to as the Colosseum of Thysdrus. This magnificent structure will transport us back in time to the days of the Ancient Roman Empire, allowing us to explore how this civilization once thrived in Africa.

Following our tour of El Djem's amphitheater, we'll make our way to Matmata. This city is famous for its troglodyte houses, fascinating dwellings carved into the mountains by Amazigh families, and featured in the Star Wars saga.

After a lunch break, we'll venture into the Douz desert, where you'll have the opportunity to marvel at its towering sand dunes. We'll take a leisurely stroll through this desert terrain, and for those interested, an optional camel ride is available.

Finally, we'll reach our hotel in Douz, where you can enjoy dinner and a well-deserved rest.

Day 2: Douz - Chott El Djerid - Tozeur

Following a hearty breakfast at your Douz hotel, we'll set off towards Chott El Djerid, one of the many salt lakes found in the heart of Africa. Here, we'll observe the various hues that grace these lands and explain the intriguing optical illusions that often occur when water evaporates in this region.

Our journey will then take us to Tozeur for lunch, where you'll replenish your energy. Then, we'll embark on a guided tour of the Medina. We'll admire its brick architecture, spot the towering minaret of the city's largest mosque, and discover the profound significance of palm trees in this locale. Naturally, we'll also visit the market, where you'll witness how locals shop for products like fruits, vegetables, and spices—a true cultural immersion.

As the day winds down, we'll return to our hotel in Tozeur for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Tozeur - Kairouan - Hammamet

On our final day, we'll kickstart the morning with breakfast at our Tozeur hotel before making our way to Kairouan, one of the oldest and holiest cities in Tunisia. Here, we'll explore the historic Sidi Sahbi Mosque, which traces its origins back to the 13th century.

Wandering through Kairouan's Medina, we'll delve into the city's rich history, marked by its martial past and strong connections with the revered Prophet Mohammed. We'll also peruse the bustling souks, where you'll be struck by the striking contrast between the white-washed walls of the houses and the vibrant indigo hues of their windows and doors—a perfect photo op!

Following our exploration, we'll enjoy a satisfying lunch in Kairouan before heading back to your hotel in Hammamet at around 6 pm.
