Hamburg Old Town Free Tour
Hamburg Old Town Free Tour
The tour guide will meet you at the Neo-Renaissance-style Rathaus (town hall) where we'll learn all about the city's republican pride. From here, we'll begin our free tour and soak up all the rich culture that surrounds this historic place. We'll visit the Alster lakes where you'll admire its spectacular architecture. This seaport on the river Elbe stretches 68 miles (110 km) from its mouth on the North Sea, giving it the special name "Gateway to the World".
Our next stop will be the St. Nikolai church, considered one of the tallest buildings in the world from 1874 to 1876. Today it's used as a temple of reflection for the remembrance of the victims of the WW2 bombings. You'll also be able to take a stroll down the city's oldest street, the Deichstraße and explore the diverse food culture it has to offer.
During the tour, we'll visit the Speicherstadt, a place recognised as a world heritage site by UNESCO, it's also the world's largest complex of warehouses, spanning an area of 260,000 square metres. Before wrapping up the tour we'll head towards the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, an absolute sanctuary for music all around the world since it's said to be the most acoustically advanced performance venue that exists.
After 2 hours of touring, we'll conclude the free tour by stopping at the Hafencity quarters, a place packed with a great atmosphere and home to Europe’s largest urban rejuvenation project.
