On this tour to Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee, we'll follow in the footsteps of Jesus in the Holy Land. We'll visit the Mount of Beatitudes, Yardenit, and even Joseph's old carpentry workshop - ideal if your cruise ship docks in Haifa!
Shore Excursion to Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee
At the established time we'll meet up at the Haifa cruise port and board a bus that will take us to Nazareth. Along the hour-long journey, we'll enjoy the sights of Israel's northern countryside.
Are you ready to visit the birthplace of Jesus? We'll first approach the Church of the Annunciation where, according to tradition, the archangel Gabriel told Mary that she would give birth to the Son of God.
Next, we'll visit the church of St. Joseph and in the basement we'll find a grotto from the 1st century that, according to legend, was Joseph's carpenter workshop. Nearby is also Mary's well! We'll tell you all the ins and outs of these ancient sacred places.
Our tour of the Holy Land continues on the Mount of Beatitudes, which offers a beautiful view of the Sea of Galilee. Did you know that this is believed to have been the place chosen by Jesus to preach the Sermon on the Mount? We'll share tons of info when we visit the temple atop this legendary hill.
Afterwards, we'll go to the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish, which commemorates one of Jesus' most famous miracles. Although its construction is quite recent, dating from the late 20th century, its aesthetics are modeled after an age-old church that stood here more than 1,000 years ago.
We'll then drive to the shores of the Sea of Galilee to visit the biblical city of Capernaum, which back in the day was a fishing town and might have been the home of Saint Peter.
We'll allow you an hour of free time for lunch before heading to Yardenit, near the confluence of the Jordan River and the Sea of Galilee. If you wish, and if time permits, you'll have the opportunity to be baptized in these waters, in one of the most significant places in the Christian religion.
After a nine-hour excursion, we'll say our goodbyes and drop you off back at the cruise port.
Cruise Schedule
When making your reservation, you must include the docking and departure time of your cruise. If your ship arrives later than 8 am, you'll be able to participate in the activity, but the duration of the tour may be shortened and some parts may have to be cut out.
