At the indicated time we'll meet at 3 Lepelstraat to start this guided tour of Haarlem. It's time to discover the must-see sights of this beautiful medieval city that has remained almost untouched by time.
From the Grote Markt, in Haarlem's main square, you can admire the façade of St. Bavo's Cathedral, one of the jewels of Dutch Gothic architecture. Next to the church is a sculpture in honour of Laurens Janszoon Coster, one of the fathers of printing.
Afterwards, we'll start strolling through the streets of the city as we reveal its history. Did you know that its inhabitants were the first settlers of New York? In fact, there's still a neighbourhood known as Harlem in the Big Apple.
We'll talk about the past and the city's illustrious figures while we see emblematic monuments such as the Amsterdamse Poort, one of the entrances to the old city wall, or the exterior of the Teyler Museum, a place of refuge for Jews during the Second World War.
We'll also explore Spain's links with Haarlem and explain why this town is considered the City of Flowers. You won't stop learning new things!
