Cajas National Park Hiking Activity
Cajas National Park Hiking Activity
Good morning! We'll pick you up at 6:30 am from your hotel in Guayaquil and set off on our trip to the Cajas National Park in the Andes Mountains. When we get there, we'll set out on our 4-hour hiking activity.
We'll make our way onto the García Moreno trail to see the divided waters, some moving towards the Amazon and others towards the Pacific Ocean. Legend has it that numerous hikers have tried to spend the night here, but didn't live to see the sunrise due to the park's cold nights.
Next, we'll ascend to an altitude of over 6,560 feet (2,000 metres) while admiring the misty forests, the moorlands and the Chorro de Plata Waterfall. You'll love this waterfall, which is nestled in the mountains and boasts nearly 300 feet (90 metres) of cascading water. In addition, we'll see medicinal plants and tell you all about their healing properties.
During our hiking route, we'll walk among ferns, orchids, mosses and, if we're lucky, see caracaras, hummingbirds, toucans and the majestic Andean condor. Having walked around 6 miles (10 kilometres), we'll return to the starting point.
It'll then be time to head back to your hotel in Guayaquil, where we'll drop you off at 2:30 pm.
