Guanajuato Walking Tour
At 10:30 am on the morning of the tour, we'll meet at the steps of the Collegiate Basilica of Nuestra Señora de Guanajuato, a dazzling neoclassical and Baroque temple. From here, we'll begin an exciting guided walking tour of this World Heritage City.
First, we'll admire the beautiful building of the Juárez Theater with its nine bronze Greek-inspired sculptures, and see the façade of the Church of San Diego, which houses under its floor a former Franciscan convent from the 17th-century.
Next, we'll pass by Monumento a la Paz, a monument to peace created by Mexican sculptor Jesús Contreras that reflects the end of the War of Independence. Not far from there, we'll come across the impressive main building of the University of Guanajuato and the old Government Palace.
Continuing on our stroll through Guanajuato, we'll head to the iconic Callejón del Beso (Alley of the Kiss) to learn the story of forbidden love between Don Carlos and Carmen. Find out what happened to them on the tour! Afterward, our route will take us to see Plaza San Roque and the historical building of Alhóndiga de Granaditas.
But that's not all! We'll learn the most curious facts about the municipality as we pass by the Museo Iconográfico del Quijote, the Museo del Pueblo and the Museo Casa Diego Rivera, the birthplace of the famous Mexican artist.
At 1:30 pm, we will conclude the tour at this last point.
