After picking you up from your hotel in Guanajuato at the scheduled time, we'll drive to the famous Cerro del Cubilete, a tall mountain hill in the heart of Mexico. At this excellent viewpoint, we'll have the opportunity to visit one of the most important pilgrimage centres in the country, the sanctuary built at the foot of the statue of Christ the King, or Cristo Rey.
Inside the sanctuary, we'll be able to admire several works of art before we move on to gaze at the sheer size of the most iconic statue of the whole state of Guanajuato. The Cristo Rey monument is a large sculpture of Jesus Christ resting on a sphere that symbolizes the universe. Do you know what the two offerings that the angels at his feet are giving him represent?
We'll reveal this and other key facts during the tour, in which we'll also get to see where the monument suffered bomb damage during the Mexican Revolution. Finally, we'll enjoy the incredible views of El Bajio de Guanajuato from 2,600 meters above sea level.
