Free Walking Tour of Guadalajara
Free Walking Tour of Guadalajara
At the scheduled time, we'll meet up in the bustling center of Guadalajara and set off on a free walking tour of this dazzling Mexican city.
First, we'll walk through the most important downtown square: Guadalajara, Armas and Fundadores. In each one of them, we'll describe the most relevant historical events, such as the role of Miguel Hidalgo and the abolition of slavery.
We'll pass in front of the Regional Museum and go around the Rotunda of the Illustrious Jaliscienses, where we'll talk about Jacobo Gálvez, Clemente Aguirre, María Izquierdo or Rita Pérez, among others. The tour will continue to the Municipal Presidency and the Municipal Palace, to see the murals of José Clemente Orozco.
Then, we'll enter the Guadalajara Cathedral to admire all the nooks and crannies of this neoclassical temple and enter its crypt, so don't panic! Other sights we'll see are the Degollado Theatre, the Tepatía square, the figure of the city's coat of arms, the fountain of the Niños Miones and other surprises that are sure to delight you.
Next, we'll continue on to the San Juan de Dios Market, the largest market hall of its kind in Latin America. There you'll be able to buy some products or souvenirs of your visit. On the way out, we'll contemplate the UNESCO World Heritage building Hospicio Cabañas.
Here, we'll bring this tour to an end and say our goodbyes.
