Gropparello Castle Guided Tour

When booking, you can choose between a daytime tour of the castle and an evening tour. Both last between 1 hour and 1 hour 15 minutes, with a guide who will accompany you during your visit to the castle.

Day visit

At the time you have selected, we'll meet at the entrance to Gropparello Castle, a majestic fortified fortress dating back to 789 A.D. situated at the top of the municipality of Gropparello.

Once reunited with the guide, we'll observe the exterior of the castle, a fortress that seems to be carved into the rock and immersed in the lush vegetation of the hill on which it is built, overlooking a meandering stream. The premise sounds quite appealing, doesn't it?

After admiring the towers, battlements and imposing walls of the fortress, we'll enter its interior, to be greeted by a beautiful central courtyard, one of the most attractive and interesting places in the structure. Here, we'll observe the irregular plan of the building, due to the need to adapt to the shape of the rock below, and the neo-Gothic details of the decorative apparatus of the courtyard. Very impressive!

We'll then visit the various rooms of the castle, including the Alcove Room, a Rococo-style dining room and the musical instrument collection room, where we'll see a piano from 1847, a harp from the first half of the 18th century and many other instruments of various periods and types.

At the end of the guided tour of Gropparello Castle, we'll say goodbye at the entrance, after an exciting tour.

Evening visit

Can you imagine what it would be like to visit a medieval fortress shrouded in darkness? We'll meet at 7 pm at the entrance to Gropparello Castle to observe the moonlit walls and visit the interior, made even more fascinating and mysterious by the evening atmosphere. The tour will follow the same itinerary as the daytime visit.

Important

Please note that the tour requires uphill and downhill walking, with some steps, so we don't recommend participation to people with mobility difficulties.
