Granada Cármenes Tour
Granada Cármenes Tour
At 10 am, we'll meet on Paseo del Generalife. During the 2 hour tour, we'll go inside 3 Granada manors, known as cármenes, so you can see the architecture and learn all about their history.
Our first stop is the Carmen of Martyrs, a 19th century manor located at the foot of the Alhambra in Granada. We'll enter its baroque garden with unique French details and observe its numerous sculptures. The English Orchard is also a must-see, as we'll be able to spot swans swimming in the pond before we walk through the stunning Nasrid courtyard.
After seeing the first carmen we'll move on to the Albaicín neighbourhood. This is Granada's oldest district, and here we'll enter two more manors. While walking, we'll admire the façades of numerous symbolic buildings such as the Carmen of Our Lady of Angustias or the Carmen of Three Stars, which has Arab influenced architecture.
We'll then go to the Carmen of Victoria, where the stunning use of water is the main attraction. Our next Carmen will be that of Max Moreau. As we walk through the manor and explore its gardens, we'll learn all about the owner, a Belgian painter who fell in love with the city of Granada (who can blame him!).
Once we've visited three of Granada's cármenes, we'll finish the tour in the Plaza Nueva at 12 noon.
Important
Carmen of Victoria has very limited capacity. If we can't visit it, we'll go to the Palacio de los Córdova and the Archaeological Museum (Casa de Hernándo de Zafra) instread.
