Did you know that The Quartet was the second Brazilian film to be nominated for an Oscar? On this tour from Gramado, we'll explore the scenery that served as inspiration for this feature film.
Tour of the Sets of 'The Quartet'
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Praça das Etnias in Gramado and set off on this tour of the sets of 'The Quartet'. During the excursion, we'll visit the places that served as inspiration for this feature film that was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1996.
The Quartet, whose original name is O Quatrilho, tells the story of two couples of Italian origin who leave their home in search of a better life in Brazil. The plot, which takes us back to 1910, is inspired by real events, something we'll learn all about during the tour.
The route will first take us to the winery of the Lazaretti family, located on the outskirts of Gramado. We'll see its extensive vineyards and huge wooden barrels while discovering the history of this Italian farm.
During the visit, we'll cross the landscapes of Campestre do Tigre and Tapera to discover where the protagonists of O Quatrilho lived. While enjoying the views, we'll delve into the history of Italian immigration in Rio Grande do Sul.
We'll also make a stop at Grings Mill, an old wheat, corn, rye, and rice mill that has a very special link with the movie The Quartet.
To round off the tour, we'll head to the Ramm family home. Here, we'll take a trip back in time by indulging in a delicious traditional-style lunch that recalls the flavors of Italian and German immigration. Yum!
We'll finish the excursion at 7 pm arriving back at the starting point.
