Quilombo Valley Tour
Quilombo Valley Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll leave from Praça das Etnias and set off on a journey through the history and colonial-era traditions of the Quilombo Valley. We'll immerse ourselves in Brazilian nature, culture, and flavors, all in one day.
We'll start the route by boarding a jardineira, a typical Brazilian bus that we'll travel in until we reach the first stop of the itinerary: the Marcon family's house. The hosts, Vicente and Fatima, will welcome us and tell us the story of their Italian ancestors who immigrated to Brazil. We'll learn what kind of tools they used to take care of their corn crops and livestock, and then we'll taste the products they make themselves, such as grape juice, bread, and jams.
Next, we'll go to the Alambique dos Rossas, where the owner, Romeu Rossa, will show us how the family business, the production of cachaça, works. We'll see the whole process of elaboration of this typical Brazilian drink, directly from the sugar cane to the palate, and of course, we'll get to taste.
The last stop will be at the property of the Baretta family, a century-old half-timbered house, a typical German construction. Here we'll be welcomed by Jovani Baretta, who will give us a snack. We'll also get to listen to live traditional music and see some dances, which you're all invited to participate in. We'll see the locals dancing kerb, a traditional dance of European origins to celebrate the harvest.
After the snack, we'll return to the starting point, where we'll arrive four hours after the start.
