Isle of Skye & Highlands Tour: 3 Days
Isle of Skye & Highlands Tour: 3 Days
Day 1: Glasgow - Lake Lomond - Glencoe - Fort William - Isle of Skye
We'll depart from the meeting point in Glasgow and head northwest towards our first stop in the picturesque village of Luss, on the banks of Loch Lomond.
Next, we'll travel north through Tyndrum and pass by the beautiful wilderness of Rannoch Moor. The tour will then take us to Glen Coe Valley to admire the striking landscape where the 1692 Macdonald Clan massacre took place.
Following on, we'll go to Fort William to have lunch and give us the opportunity to take photos of Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Afterwards, we'll stop to admire Glen Garry and the stunning Five Sisters of Kintail mountain range.
The day will end Portree, a charming village on the Isle of Skye, where we'll check into our accommodation.
Day 2: Isle of Skye (Cuillin Mountains – Dunvegan – Kilt Rock)
Once we've had breakfast the tour will depart Portree to explore the Isle of Skye capital. You can choose from the following options: Dunvegan Castle, a trip to Uig and a visit to Flora MacDonald’s grave as well as the unique Black Houses, where the Scottish Highlanders reside.
Our journey will continue to Duntulm Castle, a ruined 15th century stronghold. Here you can take photos of Kilt Rock (famous for its similarity to the shape of the Scottish item of clothing), and enjoy a walk up to Lealt Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Scotland.
This day will finish with the opportunity to see Old Man of Storr before we return to Portree.
Day 3: Eilean Donan – Loch Ness – Inverness – Pitlochry - Glasgow
As we travel back down to Edinburgh we'll see the iconic 13th century Eilean Donan Castle, which was used as the backdrop for the movie, ‘Highlander’. Our next stop will be the lovely loch-side village of Fort Augustus for lunch with views out to Loch Ness. Keep your eyes peeled for the famous monster!
Isle of Skye & Highlands Tour will continue south over Laggan and the Grampian mountains with our last stop, for refreshments, in the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, before finishing in Edinburgh. Your guide will take you to Edinburgh Waverley railway station for the 50 minute train journey back to Glasgow.
