Covadonga Day Trip
Description
We'll pick you up at Bohemia Street in Gijón at the indicated time. We'll get on a minibus with a small group of no more than 8 people and head east until we reach Covadonga, one of the emblems par excellence of Asturias.
First, we'll visit the wildest part of Covadonga. The vehicle will first take us to Ercina Lake and the viewpoint of Entrelagos, from where you'll get to enjoy unforgettable views of the lakes of Covadonga.
After admiring these breathtaking views, we'll go to the Holy Cave of Covadonga, home of the "Santina" and King Pelayo. While exploring the area, we'll learn about the tradition behind worshipping this virgin and the history of the Battle of Covadonga.
To complete this tour of Covadonga, we'll go to the Basilica of Santa María la Real in Covadonga and explore its interior. Also, during the tour, we'll learn about the history of Covadonga and its famous battle. Are the stories all true? We'll find out!
The next stop of the day will be Cangas de Onis, where you'll have an hour free to explore or have lunch in a local restaurant. The gastronomy of this area is delicious! We'll meet up again and, to end the day in the best possible way, visit the Roman bridge and the Santa Cruz chapel.
We'll finish this excursion by returning to the starting point in Gijón approximately eight hours after the initial start time.
