We'll meet at the designated time in front of the Tourist Information Office at the Old Port, where we'll begin this fascinating walking tour of medieval Genoa, a journey back in time to discover the city's fascinating past.
The tour will start next to the Embriaci Tower, one of the only medieval towers that have survived up until the present day, and a symbol of the ancient Genovese nobility. From here, we'll head over to Campopisano, an area that holds a lesser-known but fascinating chapter in the city's history, and the Church of Santa Maria di Castello, a perfect example of combining medieval architecture and beliefs.
We'll continue towards the Church of San Donato, a small Romanesque gem hidden amongst the carruggi, and the Porta Soprana, an impressive sample of the city's medieval defensive walls.
Lastly, we'll head over to the Sant'Agostino Museum, where we'll explore its triangular cloister, the evocative adjoining church, and the remains of the mausoleum of Margaret of Brabant, a masterpiece by the great sculptor Giovanni Pisano.
After a total of 2.5 hours, this tour will come to an end at the museum's exit.
