Discover the attractions of Poland's largest port city with this Gdansk Boat Ride - a tour full of curiosities and surprises!
Gdansk Boat Ride
We'll meet at the appointed time in the port of Galar, located in the former imperial shipyard in Gdansk. From here we'll start an interesting walk aboard a galley boat. Are you ready?
We'll sail along the Motlava River for 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to know the most characteristic places of Gdansk from a unique perspective. We'll have the opportunity to see the great merchant ships of the port and part of the historical centre up to the ruins of a Teutonic castle from the 14th century. There is still a wall with a fragment of a battlement!
Then we'll pass by the medieval crane of Gdansk, considered the oldest in the Baltic and a real emblem of the city. The damage caused by the Second World War meant that its wooden part had to be almost completely renovated.
We'll also see the historical buildings of Olowianka Island, which were erected by the Knights of the Teutonic Order. Next, we'll admire the remains of barns and warehouses that in medieval times housed hops and hemp. Look at the contrast with the modernist blocks of today!
Finally, we'll return to the starting point to conclude the galley ride.
What is the boat like?
The boats are inspired by the old galleys of the Middle Ages. They are made of wood and have a capacity of 12 people.
