Laguna Excursion
Laguna Excursion
At 9 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Garopaba and drive south to Laguna. Nothing less than one of the most beautiful coastal cities of the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina awaits us.
We'll start the tour at the Santuário dos Botos, where we'll see something unique that only takes place in Greece and this area of Brazil. This is a unique fishing technique in which dolphins surround schools of fish while fishermen cast their nets - a wonderful example of teamwork!
After observing this curious fishing method, we'll continue our tour of Laguna visiting the Anita Garibaldi Museum. Does the surname of this famous Brazilian revolutionary ring a bell? She was none other than the wife of Giuseppe Garibaldi, one of the main promoters of Italian unification.
We'll learn about the great political influence of Anita Garibaldi in the revolutionary processes of South America and Europe in the first half of the 19th century. After discussing her story, we'll stop at a restaurant on the banks of the Canal da Barra to enjoy a lunch that includes a typical regional dish. You can choose between a vegetarian option or a fish, chicken, or shrimp-based specialty.
Following lunch, we'll continue the tour of Laguna in the desert area of the Caminhantes Dunes. From there we'll continue to the Santa Marta Lighthouse, one of the largest lighthouses in the Americas! In the surroundings of this watchtower, we'll also see the sambaquis, ancient ceremonial sites where human bones and funerary ornaments have been found.
After admiring the Atlantic from the foot of the Santa Marta Lighthouse, we'll return to your hotel in Garopaba, arriving at 5 pm.
