Galway Free Walking Tour

On the day of the tour, we'll meet up at the scheduled time next to the Spanish arch and set off on our free tour of Galway. Are you ready to visit the most emblematic spots in the cultural capital of Ireland? Let's go!

The tour will begin taking us through the lively, bustling city of Galway while we talk about its history. Once a small fishing village, Galway is now a modern, happening university town. It also has a privileged location since it's the gateway to the world-famous Connemara National Park, one of the most beautiful natural enclaves in Ireland.

We'll continue getting lost among the charming narrow streets and sharing plenty of fascinating fun facts. The city was founded after the settlement of 14 merchant families in the fifteenth century, who left as their legacy the Lynch Castle and the Collegiate Church of St. Nicholas.

The route will take us to look at the stunning facade of this last church, where we'll talk about how some claim that Christopher Columbus himself visited this place before setting sail on his first journey to the Americas.

In addition, we'll walk around the Galway harbor area to learn about the history that dates back to the 12th century, when a fort was built at the mouth of the Corrib River by Clan O'Connor

Two hours later, we'll finish the free tour of Galway at a lookout point with the best views of the river so can get plenty of souvenir photos.
