What to Expect
On the morning of the activity, we'll collect you from Kinlay Hostel in Galway's city centre. By bus, we'll then head south along the Wild Atlantic Way, which brings us through some of Ireland's most incredible natural landscapes. Along the way, we'll also head through the villages of Clarenbridge, Kilcogan, Ballindereen and Ballyvaughan, home to various medieval ruins, 16th-century houses and the source of traditional Irish legends.
The Cliffs of Moher
Our first stop will be at the iconic Cliffs of Moher. Over 8 kilometres (5 miles) in length and 210 metres (688 feet) tall, these cliffs have long been considered one of the most incredible natural landmarks in the country and in the world. Be sure to keep an eye out for the local birds as well—cormorants and puffins are known to hang around this area!
The Aran Islands: Inisheer
After having enjoyed incredible views (and taking plenty of photos), we'll continue our trip to the town of Doolin. Here, we'll hop on a ferry, which will bring us to the smallest of the three Aran Islands: Inisheer. During this 30-minute journey, be sure to keep your eyes peeled, as dolphins are often sighted in these waters!
Once on the island, you'll be able to explore at your own pace. Despite being the smallest of the Aran Islands, there is plenty to enjoy. Soak in the Irish culture and lush natural landscapes. Also, discover the ruins of St. Cavan's Church dating back to the 10th century, as well as the Plassey shipwreck—an incredible 600-tonne boat which washed ashore during a storm in the 1960s!
After exploring the island, we'll make the return journey to the mainland. During the return journey, we'll enjoy another perspective of the Cliffs of Moher—don't forget your camera! Once we're back on the mainland, you'll have another hour of free time to explore the summit at your own pace.
We'll then hop back onto the bus and head back to Galway, where we'll conclude the tour after 10 hours of activity.
