On this hiking route through Fúquene we'll discover the natural, heritage and cultural jewels of one of the most beautiful villages in the province of Ubaté

Fúquene Hiking Tour

We'll meet at 9 am at the petrol station El Portal De Simijaca. There we'll embark on a hiking route through Fúquene that mixes history and nature

First we'll walk to a traditional handicraft workshop, where we'll see how reed baskets are made. This raw material grows on the shores of the lagoon and is an art that comes from the pre-Columbian tribes.

Afterwards, we'll head towards the ancient village of Fúquene and, along the way, we'll see native plants such as alders, ciros, curubos, morus and dandelions. Once in the village, located at an altitude of over 1700 metres (5577 feet), we'll learn stories of the Muisca also called the Chibchaand, an indigenous peoples. We'll also learn about the life of Teresa de Verdugo, founder of the town.

We'll also visit the parish church, a colonial building that houses an altar inlaid with emeralds. You'll then have an hour of free time for lunch.

With renewed energy, we'll set off for the starting point in Fúquene. The end time is scheduled for 5 pm.
