Discover an incredible variety of local products at the Santo da Serra market on this day trip from Funchal and discover Madeira's spectacular landscapes.

Santo da Serra Market Day Trip

After picking you up from your hotel we'll head east to Santo da Serra, a small village in Machico famous for its market that attracts hundreds of locals every Sunday. Here we'll find an incredible variety of local products such as fruit, vegetables, fresh fish, handicrafts and clothes.

After exploring the busy, colourful market we'll visit some of the town's bars so you can buy some poncha, a typical drink from the island made from lemon, honey and sugar cane. Delicious!

Before returning to Funchal we'll make a brief stop at the Portela Viewpoint for breathtaking views of the Machico Valley and the Atlantic Ocean.

On the return journey, we'll pass by Santa Cruz to admire this beautiful city nestled in the mountains.

We'll arrive in Funchal at around 1 pm.

Súper agradable la excursión. Merece la pena el mercado pars probar frutas a bastante mejor precio que en Funchal. El pueblito es muy agradable y Fernando un sol, con explicaciones muy interesantes sobre la historia de Madeira y la vegetación de la zona Translate this opinion into English.

Genial excursión. En una furgoneta de 9 plazas íbamos el guía y nosotros 2 con un bebé de 10 meses en su sillita. Joao, el guía, fue muy amable y atento. No nos metió prisa y se fue parando casi en cada mirador por el que pasamos, en Garajao (Cristo Rei), Santa Cruz, Camacha... No os quedéis solo en el mercado. Santo Antonio da Serra es precioso y la Quinta da Junta merece la pena visitar. Muy recomendable para conocer Madeira de manos de un guía local.
