Levada do Moinho Hike
Hike Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Funchal and, from there, we'll make our way west.
After a 1-hour drive, we'll reach the Levado do Moinho hiking trail, named this way because of the many water mills in the area. It's also a renowned sugarcane production centre, whose cultivation specifically requires a large amount of irrigation.
Once we reach this spot, we'll begin an exciting hiking route in Levada do Moinho. Throughout this 3-hour, medium-difficult trek, we'll pass different agricultural landscapes. During the hike, you'll also learn about the main examples of native fauna and flora that make up this ecosystem.
We'll also admire a remarkable series of waterfalls and small streams that provide a refreshing touch along the path. While we walk, we'll discuss anecdotes and curious facts about this fascinating natural location, that belongs to the Ponta do Sol municipality, on Madeira's southern coast.
Lastly, we'll return to the hike's starting point to hop on the vehicle back to Funchal, where hotel drop-off is predicted around 4-5.5 hours after pickup.
