Located in the centric Rua 31 de Janeiro, one of the main avenues in the capital of Madeira, H.M. Borges is the most famous winery in Funchal.
At the designated time, we'll meet at the main entrance of this winery to embark on a guided tour of its facilities. You'll first learn about the company's long history, founded in 1871 by the winemaker Henrique Menezes Borges.
Then, we'll tell you about the characteristics of Madeira wines. How are they produced? Which are the main types of grapes harvested on the island? We'll tell you the answers to these questions and more!
We'll continue our tour with a visit to the H.M. Borges winery's barrel room, where you'll discover the aging and maturation process of the wines. You'll also see how the winery bottles the different varieties.
Finally, we'll conclude this 40-minute tour with a tasting of Madeira wines. Depending on the option you book, you'll taste 2, 3, or 6 wines crafted by the H.M. Borges Winery, which will be accompanied by sweets from the island. It'll be the perfect pairing!
