On this star gazing experience at Roque de los Muchachos, we'll learn all about the stars that shine in the night sky over La Palma. You'll also enjoy a magical sunset!
Star Gazing in La Palma
We'll pick you up from the meeting point in La Palma that you select and head by road to the highest part of the island. Are you ready to spot thousands of stars from Roque de Los Muchachos? Let's go!
La Palma is one of the best places in Spain to go star gazing because its skies are protected by law. Our tour will take us to the viewpoint in Roque de los Muchachos, at 2426 metres (7960 feet) high. Here, you can find the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory (ORM), home to the largest infrared optical telescope in the world.
Upon arrival, we'll marvel at the sunset from the peak, seeing how the sun hides behind the clouds. It will feel like you can touch the sky! In addition, we'll give you a lovely glass of wine from the island. Now in darkness, we'll move to a nearby viewpoint.
Once at the best stop, we'll give you a fascinating guided explanation of the stars and constellations, using a laser and an 11-inch Celestron telescope. We'll discover the solar systems, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies outside of our own. If the moon and other planets are visible, we'll also talk about these.
At the end of this unforgettable solar journey at Roque de los Muchachos, and after a total of 8 hours, we'll head back to the initial pickup points.
