Castelli Romani Private Excursion
At 9:30 am on the morning of the tour, we'll meet at the Frascati train station. From there, we'll hit the road by car to our first destination, Castel Gandolfo, just 20 minutes away.
Once we arrive, we'll go on a sightseeing tour of this town and see the exterior of the Pope's summer residence. Did you know that Alexander VII was the first bishop of Rome to spend his vacations in the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo? During the tour, we'll also be sure to tell you about the famous Italian sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini's involvement in this building.
Next we'll skirt Lake Albano until we reach Nemi, one of the smallest villages in the Castelli Romani region, where we'll enjoy incredible views of the surrounding hills. Then, we'll continue the route to Rocca di Papa to admire the facade of its 12th-century castle and reveal why this place is known as the town that survived World War II.
The last stop of the day will be in Frascati. We'll stroll through its historic center and head to a winery to taste its star product, white wine, accompanied by a typical Italian aperitif. While we treat our taste buds, we'll explain how the volcanic soils of this region help the cultivation of the vine and the peculiarities of the flavor that these lands give to the local grape.
After the tasting, the tour will come to a close back at the starting point, at 12:30 pm.
