Itaipu Dam and Saltos del Monday Day Trip
Description
On the day of the activity, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu at the indicated time. From there, we'll make our way to cross the Paraná River to get to the neighbouring country of Paraguay.
Our first stop will then be at Ciudad del Este, where we'll visit the Tierra Guaraní Museum, where we'll be able to discover the history of the local indigenous people as well as how the region has transformed since the arrival of early settlers.
After visiting the museum, we'll head to the town of Hernandarias to visit the incredible Itaipu Dam hydroelectric power plant, which is located right on the border between Brazil and Paraguay and is one of the largest in the world.
We'll continue our adventure through the easternmost part of Paraguay with a visit to the Saltos del Monday waterfalls. These spectacular waterfalls are the most famous in the country, plunging from a height of 40 metres (131 feet). We'll stop at the best viewpoints so that you can enjoy the falls and get some good photos!
Our next stop will be at the Mercado de Abastos market in Ciudad del Este, where you can grab yourself a drink or a snack before we begin our journey back to Brazil.
We'll arrive back at your hotel about 7.5 hours after pickup.
