South Martinique Tour
South Martinique Tour
We'll pick you up from your hotel or meeting point at 9 am to start this tour of the south of Martinique.
The first stop on our route will be the Pottery Village, located on the outskirts of the French commune of Les Trois-Îlets. There we can enjoy watching the pottery workshops that have been active since the 18th century. Tiles, azulejos and different works of terracotta flood the streets of this place.
Afterwards, we'll travel to Les Anses d'Arlet, a coastal village that looks like something out of a fairy tale. We'll stroll past its Creole houses and see its picturesque 18th-century church overlooking the sea. You can also take a dip in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean if you wish.
We'll continue our journey to a viewpoint from where we'll be able to see Diamond Rock, a basalt islet located off the coast, where the sun glints make this rock look like a real diamond! We'll then visit the Cap 110 Memorial to learn about the history of the 1830 shipwreck in which hundreds of slaves died.
After the visit to this memorial, we'll make a short stop at a local market in case you feel like buying some seasonal fruit and we'll go inside the Trois Rivieres Distillery rum factory, where we'll learn about the differences between the white and the aged varieties.
Finally we'll head back to the starting point. Arrival is scheduled at 2 pm.
