Saint-Pierre & Sacré Coeur Tour
Saint-Pierre & Sacré Coeur Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet on Avenue Loulou Boislaville in Fort-de-France, where we'll board a minibus and set off to explore the Saint-Pierre region of north-west Martinique.
During the tour, we'll discover some of the Caribbean island's most important places of scenic and historical interest. We'll also take advantage of the stops to taste typical products of Martinique, including banana wine, coconut punch, cherry juice and guava pâté.
Before leaving Fort-de-France, we'll visit the Sacré Coeur Church, an early 20th century church built in the image of one of the most important religious monuments in Paris. We'll tell you about its history and point out many of its architectural curiosities.
The tour will then take us through the tropical forests of Saint-Pierre. Here, we'll get out of the vehicle and take a short hike to the waterfall of Fonds-Saint-Denis. You'll be captivated by the sight of this sepctacular natural waterfall!
The next stop will be the ruins of the ancient city of Saint-Pierre, a settlement that was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Pelée in 1902. Did you know that it's considered to be one of the most destructive volcanoes in the world?
For the finishing touch on the tour, we'll taste Martinique's exquisite rum. We'll visit a distillery where we'll learn all about the production of this famous Caribbean spirit. Then, after a tasting, we'll head to Carbet Beach, where you'll have 20 minutes of free time to cool off with a dip in the sea.
It'll then be time to say goodbye. We'll finish the tour at 1:30 pm back at the starting point after 4.5 hours of activity.
