On the day of the activity, we'll meet along the road to Fossmork, just a little north of Forsand at the kayak container and base. Ready to kayak in the Norwegian fjords?
Once we've all gathered, we'll listen in on a short kayaking intro and safety briefing to get us acquainted with proper paddling techniques. Then, it's time to hit the water to enjoy the nearly untouched landscape of Lysefjord.
Throughout our route, we'll kayak past larger-than-life granite gorges, that trace back to the Ice Ages, carved by ancient glaciers now long gone. In fact, Lysefjord roughly translates to "light fjord," named for its granite-colored walls lining the waterfront.
Along the way, we'll also paddle past several waterfalls, taking us deeper into the tranquil natural atmosphere of the area. Due to the fjord's steep canyon walls and rough terrain, this area remains sparsely populated. This works in our favor, providing more opportunities to spot the local flora and fauna. Keep those eyes peeled for various bird and marine species!
Then, after 3 hours immersed in this unique natural landscape, we'll make our way back to the starting point, bringing our tour to an end.
