Food Tour of Florianópolis
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Saint Francis of Assisi bakery, on the corner of Florianópolis Public Market, a place filled with history and flavour.
Here, you'll get to taste one of Brazil's most characteristic treats: pão de queijo, freshly baked cheese balls with an irresistible taste. You'll also get to try some sugarcane juice, a drink made of pressed sugarcane. Additionally, we'll share stories about the market’s tradition and its importance to daily life.
We'll continue onto the Central Fair, a space where all kinds of fresh products are sold, featuring exotic fruits and spices that are an essential part of the Brazilian diet. We'll try a freshly made pastry, crunchy on the outside and juicy inside. You also can't miss out on a brigadeiro, a sweet made of condensed milk that will melt on your tongue.
Our next stop will be the stalls at Plaza XV de Noviembre, where you'll have the chance to try a coxinha, breaded dough filled with chicken. Additionally, you'll be able to enjoy other delicacies, like a meat empanadilla, which is not only delicious but will also connect you with the island's culinary traditions.
After so many flavours, we'll take a small walking break, and what better place to do so than the Passarela Nego Quirido? This is one of the most important spots for Florianópolis Carnaval, where parades and performances come to life.
The final stop will be Barra Maneca, the ideal local bar to enjoy a refreshing drink. Here, we'll also try jambu cachaça, a traditional alcoholic drink that has the unique flavour of the jambu plant, famous for its slightly numbing effect on the tongue. Additionally, you'll get to try a variety of cold-cut sandwiches which will pair perfectly with this drink.
To end the tour on a high note, we'll take you to the Blumenau Bakery and Patisserie, a landmark in the city where the cakes and bread are true works of art. Here, you'll have the chance to taste the famous cuca, a traditional cake with fruits and a crunchy layer on top, a delicacy which blends influences from German immigrants with Brazilian flavours.
After approximately 3.5 hours, this culinary adventure in Florianópolis will come to an end.
