Pompeii Train Excursion
Pompeii Train Excursion
With your train tickets (which you'll have received the day before) you'll head to Santa Maria Novella station in Florence to take the 6 am Frecciarossa train. Be sure to arrive on time!
At 9:15 am you'll arrive at Naples Central Station, where an attendant will welcome and accompany you to the regional train that will take you to Pompeii. During the journey, you'll have incredible views of the Gulf of Naples, the Sorrento peninsula, and Mount Vesuvius.
When you arrive in Pompeii, a guide will be waiting for you at the train station to show you how to get to the ruins from there. The day before the tour, you'll receive your tickets for Pompeii and instructions on how to download the audio guide. There is no need to go to the ticket office in Pompeii to exchange your ticket. Ready to visit the ancient Roman city?
During the visit, you'll make your own way through an audio-guided tour of the excavations of this famous site buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. You'll be able to see the baths, the lupanar, the Temple of Jupiter, the forum, and buildings still standing with mosaics and typical Pompeian decor. At the archaeological site, there are also the casts of the inhabitants of the city who fell victim to the lava.
After visiting Pompeii on your own, you'll meet your tour escort to return to the station and take the regional train departing at 2:21 pm. Once in Naples, you'll board the high-speed train at 3:40 pm to arrive in Florence at 6:46 pm.
Tour of Pompeii with a guide
If you prefer to visit the Pompeii excavations with a guide rather than an audio guide, you can do so!
In this case, you'll be welcomed by the guide, who will provide you with skip-the-line tickets to the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. Here, you'll enjoy a guided walking tour that will last 2 hours.
At the end of the tour, the guide will provide you with all the necessary information so that you can continue to explore the Archaeological Park on your own. He will also show you how to walk from the ruins to Pompeii station, where you'll take your return train.
