The Best Free Walking Tour of Florence
At the indicated time, the tour meets in Piazza dell'Unità Italiana, not far from the emblematic Basilica of Santa Maria Novella. Here, we'll start our free walking tour of Florence, discovering the essence of the historic centre of the Tuscan capital.
First, we'll stop at the Medici Chapels, delving into the captivating history of the Medici family. Nearby, San Lorenzo Basilica awaits, did you know it's one of the main places of worship in the city? We'll follow that with a visit to the vibrant and colourful stalls of the San Lorenzo Market.
The route then continues towards the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its famous dome by Brunelleschi and the imposing Giotto bell tower. Near the Cathedral, you can also find the Baptistery of San Giovanni, well known for its beautiful exterior. Then it's on to the Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza della Signoria, the beating heart of Florence.
The walking tour then heads to one of the most important cultural landmarks in the city: the Uffizi Gallery. And then we'll visit the Arno, the river crossed at its narrowest point by Ponte Vecchio, one of the symbols of Florence, with a long history behind it dating back to 1218.
The tour then finishes in Piazza Santa Croce, one of Florence's iconic spots, after 2.5 hours filled with fun facts about this artistic city.
