At the appointed time we'll meet in front of the Ambasciatori Hotel in Florence. From here we'll depart by train to Cinque Terre, where we'll visit three of these five small municipalities declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
After a 2.5-hour train ride, we'll arrive at La Spezia station, where we'll take another train to Manarola. This gem of a town is renowned for its Genoese-style tower houses. Enjoy an hour of free time in Manarola marveling at its unique beauty.
Next up, we'll take a 15-minute train back to Vernazza. Upon arrival, you'll be struck by the remains of the medieval castle of Doria that dominates the village, located on a rocky spur over 70 meters (229 feet) high. Learn more about its history during an hour of free time in Vernazza!
Then, back on the train, we'll head to Monterosso, known as the pearl of the Cinque Terre. In this ancient fishing village, you'll have time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. The perfect opportunity to indulge in authentic Ligurian gastronomy. Be sure to try the traditional trofie with pesto and other typical delicacies.
After lunch, enjoy more free time to swim at the beach and explore Monterosso, before reaching the pier and taking the ferry to Portovenere. The crossing will take about 1.5 hours. Once we've docked, you'll have 1.5 hours of free time to stroll through the charming town.
Finally, we'll take the train back to La Spezia, where the train to Florence will be waiting for us. Once we arrive at the station, we'll say goodbye after 14 hours and 45 minutes together.
Itinerary Changes
In the event of a train strike, the itinerary may change. In addition, depending on the number of passengers, transportation may be by bus or train. In case of unfavorable weather conditions, the visit to Portovenere will be replaced by a stop in Riomaggiore, where we'll arrive by train.
