Florence Cathedral Guided Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll meet in front of the Museo della Misericordia. From this point, we'll have priority access to the interior of the Florence Cathedral, one of the most important in the world and a masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance. Did you know that it is protected as a World Heritage Site?
Once inside, we'll discover together the origin of this cathedral, erected in honour of Santa Maria del Fiore, patron saint of the city of Florence. We'll go back to its beginnings as a small church in the 7th century, up to the moment when it became one of the largest Cathedrals in the world.
We'll continue the visit learning all the secrets of the architecture of the place and the works of art that fill its interior. And of course, we'll look at the details of Brunelleschi's impressive dome, which dominates the whole city. What techniques were used for its construction and what materials were used?
Finally, we'll admire the details of the wonderful fresco by Vasari and Zuccaro depicting the Last Judgement. Did you know that it is the largest surface decorated with this painting technique? Really impressive!
Misericordia Museum
This activity also includes a ticket for the Misericordia Museum, which you can visit in your own time after the Cathedral tour. The exhibition space here houses a large collection of pieces related to Florentine history.
